This oyster shell necklace is carefully handcrafted in copper from a real oyster shell found on Exmouth beach in Devon and captures all the beautiful detail of the original.

This is a unique piece for those who like their jewellery to have meaning and be unique and one of a kind. This pendant captures the detail of the shell where it has eroded in the sea over time. I have coloured this copper shell using a flame to add variation and depth to the colour making each and every piece unique. No two pieces will ever be the same. I have shown a couple of examples in the photos.

I make each piece painstakingly by hand, using a real shell as its basis. I use clay based copper to make each piece. I have made a mould of the original shell into which I then press the clay capturing all the beautiful detail. I then burn in a kiln at 873 degrees for 3 hours! This transforms the copper clay into pure copper metal in the exact copy of the original. Its a bit like magic! This copper acts like any other copper at this stage. So I use a flame to bring a unique colouring to the piece. I then use a spray lacquer on it to prevent it changing colour or turning your skin green!

This is the perfect elegant gift for a nature lover or that boho friend with an individual style. Of course it also makes the perfect present for yourself!

This oyster shell measures approximately 2.8cm by 2.4cm. You can choose a 16 or18 inch fine rose filled gold trace chain for your lovely oyster shell at checkout. This will not stain your skin green.

Rose gold filled has a solid layer of gold (14k) permanently bonded to a base metal, such as brass. The rose colour is obtained by alloying gold with copper. It is very hard wearing and under normal wear the gold will not peel or flake, unlike gold plate, and is commonly used as a more economical alternative to pure gold. I can not guarantee this chain is hypo-allergenic, although after much wear testing I have not reacted to it.
